What does a PT treatment look like?
Typically when a patient arrives at a PT clinic they have sustained an injury or undergone a surgery recently. On day 1 your PT will get baseline measurements of your strength, range of motion, flexibility, and analyze your movement patterns. From there your PT will determine an accurate diagnosis and establish a plan of care for you to get back to the activities that you love. The plan of care will be in collaboration with the patient and focus on their specific goals. At PPW we are patient-centered and will only establish a plan of care if the patient agrees to it. On Day 1 we will also use a variety of manual therapy techniques to start to reduce your pain and get you on the road to recovery. You will be sent home with exercises to perform on a weekly basis that are specific to you and your injury.
How can I benefit from PT?
If you have been injured while playing your sport and want to get back to the activities you love then PT can be beneficial for you! PT can help you recover from injury, manage your chronic pain, and even improve your performance in your sport.
Even if you have not had a recent injury or experiencing pain at the moment you can benefit from an assessment by a PT. Past injuries can lead to movement pattern compensations which can negatively affect your performance. It is important to get baseline measurements for strength, ROM, and flexibility as we progress through life just like it is important to get routine doctor check-ups.
Whatever the case may be, a licensed Doctor of Physical Therapy is here to help you get out of pain and live a life without limitations.
